Cat Ba National Park Explore half day
Cat Ba National Park was first established in 1986 and located 17km north – west of Cat Ba Town. This is an area of 15,200ha, of which 9,800ha are forest and the rest is in the water. The original tropical forest spans an area of 570ha, with extremely varied caves, wildlife and plants. Most famous are golden headed langur,Kim Giao tree with medicine value, Trung Trang grotto, Army cave, and Fog lake with its mangrove. Cat Ba National Park is Vietnam’s first national park of both terrestrial and marine ecosystems.
08:00 We start to drive seventeen Km to the National Park center where we can visit Hung Son mountain, Army cave which was not only used for Vietnamese soldiers to hide the American bombs but also was used as a soldiers hospital with a systems of congeries cement rooms for surgery, meeting room, rest rooms…
9:00 We continue further in to the National Park center of Cat Ba, stop to visit Trung Trang grotto. This is the biggest and the longest grotto in Cat Ba Island. Walking through 300m inside the mountain is a great challenge with tourists. The charm of limestone Karsts will be a great experience to both geologist scientists and tourists.
10:00 We continue to walk to Cat Ba National Park, where we can subdue nature by climbing up to Ngu Lam observation for a panorama picture and magnificent of the park. On the trails we will have many opportunities to see different kinds of plantations, especially the medical tree named Kim Giao, as latin name is Podocarpus. In ancient times, kings and nobles would eat only with chopsticks made from this timber, as the light colored wood was reputed to turn to black when it touched anything poisonous. Nowadays, the local use to use it when have a bad cough.
12:00 We return to the National Park center and go back the main town by bus.
